A transition in educational strategy has reduced the sole focus on instructors teaching in a lecturing format. The sage on a stage format set in years of typical classroom design has been eroding in favor of engaging students with project based learning. For the Design Labs Samaha took two existing typical classrooms and renovated them in into flexible maker space labs. The new spaces offer a variety of teaching opportunities and hands on learning. Equipment included flexible worktables, 3D printers, laser cutters, cord reels, and a variety of project storage modules.
