DC Water's new Sewer Services Building replaces an aging and functionally inadequate existing facility with a new modernized facility that fits the current and future needs of the Sewer Services Group. DC Water requested that this building be of a “retro-industrial” style, borrowing design elements from early 20th Century industrial architecture that is rapidly disappearing from the District. The two-story building contains office space, a training room, locker rooms, and break room. The relocation of the Sewer Services group to this new modern facility has provided DC Water with a long-awaited safe and efficient maintenance center. This improved efficiency can now enable quicker response times for sustaining the District’s critical infrastructure, reduce long-term operational costs, and boost DC Water employee morale and job satisfaction.
