DC Water Warehouse and Visitor Security
Blue Plains, Washington, DC
Size:
31,000 SF
Samaha designed the new visitor center and central warehouse building at Blue Plains in the District of Columbia. The 21,000 SF warehouse portion of the project serves as the primary facility for receiving, processing, distributing, and storing materials for the DC Water organization district-wide. Construction of the warehouse is part of DC Water’s master planning, implementation of a modernized inventory tracking system, and state-of-the-art warehouse storage processes. The 10,000 SF two-story visitor/security center portion serves as the primary greeting and screening center for all visitors to the plant. The first floor provides a check-in area, interpretive displays, meeting space, and an employee fitness center. The second floor serves as the headquarters for DC Water security, and contains the security command center.
