Following the completion of a large addition to the Spotsylvania County Courthouse, Samaha assisted Spotsylvania County Public Works (SCPW) with phased interior renovations that reorganized departments both within the new addition and within the existing space of the Courthouse complex. As the new addition added multiple courtrooms to the building, spaces that support the courts also were required to expand. The General District Court (GDC) offices were the first in the series of phased interior renovation projects. The existing GDC spaces were small, running out of space for staff, and provided limited space for filing of court documents. Samaha worked closely with SCPW and the user group to assess existing spaces and provide programming and space development plans reorganizing the GDC in a different area of the courthouse. Samaha went on to provide architectural and engineering services through permitting and construction administration. Services also included finish selections and working with the County’s furniture vendor in selecting pieces and finishes. Custom millwork was designed for the front service counter. The space vacated by GDC was then renovated, expanding the adjacent Commonwealth Attorney’s Offices.
